Measuring Blinds in Gateshead

When it comes to measuring your new roller blinds, you can either do it yourself or hire professionals. However, when professionals handle all your measurements and fitting from A-Z, then you will get the best results, no matter what. Crystal Blinds in Gateshead has come up with an offer where you get free estimating and fitting with all types of blinds. We measure and fit them at absolutely no cost!

Here is an insight into our measuring guide.

Fitting inside the recesses

Blinds are usually suspended inside the recesses of the windows. Therefore, you must remember that they obstruct window handles or any other decorations that are in the way. You must always take measurements from where the blind is going to be installed. Leave enough space in front of the obstructions so that the blinds sit comfortably. Then measure the width, and inside the space, from wall to wall. Start measuring from the top from where the brackets will be fitted. Also, the blinds’ operating components and brackets will take up some space.

If tiles are covering the inside of the window recess, then measurements are less straight forward. Here, you must measure the space in between the tiles. Alternatively, if you have a skirting board or picture rail fitted inside the recess then take measurements according to the width.

You have to accomplish measurements for the blinds’ drop as well. Calculate dimensions from the top of the recess until it gets down to the window sill. Take measurements starting from the left, go on to the middle and then up to the right. The smallest measurements of all three have to be noted down.

Crystal Blinds offers a range of blinds styles including Roller, Venetian, Roman, and Perfect Fit blinds. Choose from our standard sizes and colours, and we will match requirements according to your taste.

Outside recess fitting

When you wish to fit roller blinds right on to the wall and outside of the window recess, then you may have to take measurements of the recess width from the front edge. Then to the results, add about 5 cm extra on either side. All these measurement guides are for a fairly uncomplex, and normal window recess.

Next, measure the drop from the top of the recess until the window sill and add a little extra – about 7 cm – leaving enough space for fitting the brackets. Measure the flat area of the architrave for the width and the drop, if you have one around the window.

Alternatively, for a baton on the window, you may want to measure the full width and then calculate the drop – from the top down to the window sill.
